Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold and lead rallies in many districts in the country ahead of next polls with a view to revitalize the leaders and activists of the party.

Her visit schedule is being prepared emphasizing on the district where she didn’t visit last few years.

AL president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina confirmed the matter in the executive council meeting of the party on Friday afternoon.

According to the party sources, keeping ahead of next parliamentary election, Sheikh Hasina will allocate most of her active times for party purposes. Making adjustment with the government activities, she will hold and lead rallies and meetings in many districts. Besides her visit in district level, she will also call on district level leaders to Ganabhaban so that the root-level leaders can share their thoughts with the party president.

AL office secretary and special assistant to prime minister Barrister Biplob Barua said, “AL district level rally will be held at Jashore on November 24, at Chattogram on December 4 and at Cox’s Bazar on December 7, where the party president, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will also be present. Besides, we have a plan to arrange rally in Narail.”

According to the sources, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is holding rallies and meetings in different places of the country. At first they arranged rallies and meetings based on the Capital, however they are now arranging it in divisional level. They are scheduled to hold a grand rally on December 10 in Dhaka. The very next day was scheduled to be held the grand rally marking the 50th anniversary of Jubo League (AL’s youth wing) at Sohrawardy Udyan in the capital.   Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is to be present at the rally as chief guest. Jubo League is arranging extended meetings in various districts regarding the preparation of the grand rally.

Meanwhile, AL’s arrangement of rallies and meetings as a reaction of BNP’s activity has become talk of the town in the political field. However, the AL leaders don’t agree that they’re arranging rallies and meetings countering the programs of BNP. They said they’re doing it as part of organizing their pre-fixed district councils and rallies.

AL general secretary Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said, “AL won’t do any rally as counter program. There’s no issue of countering with BNP. AL national council and other rallies are regular part of the party programs. What can we do if the timing matches with their programs?”

The ruling party wants to ensure the presence of at least 10 lakh people in the rally scheduled to be held at Ploground in port-city Chattogram on December 4. The party leaders said, challenge has been thrown to BNP from Dhaka district council that AL will arrange rallies of countless people. On the day of the council, the old Trade Fair field at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar was packed with people. The Chattogram council will be successful in the same way.

Regarding the matter, AL presidium member advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak told The Bangladesh Pratidin, “AL is the party of mass people and always wants to be with them. So, party president, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be present in the rallies. Already, the presence of huge number of people in the council of Dhaka proved people are with us. And the presence of the Prime Minister will turn the rallies into sea of people.”

AL organizing secretary SM Kamal Hossain told The Bangladesh Pratidin, “Prime minister couldn’t present in front of mass people because of the Covid-19 epidemic. As the intensity of Covid is minimized, now she wants to be present in front of mass people again. She will present before the people the success story of government and advancement of the country. At the same time, she’ll explain how present world situation creating various crises.”

He said once on this Pologround, the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman announced six-point movement against the Pakistanis. Now, from this vey place, daughter of Bangabandhu will start mass-gathering.”

SM Kamal Hossain said the party president always providing us with proper directions as she wants to see the party strong. I arranged councils in all the districts and 79 upazilas among 82 in Rajshahi division as I got inspiration and courage from honorable Prime Minister.
