The Bhola district administration has taken preparations to evacuate around three lakh residents from the char areas to the shelters as cyclone ‘Sitrang’ is likely to make a landfall in southern Bangladesh coast by early Tuesday.
Due to the impact of Cyclone ‘Sitrang’ the residents of Bhola districts have been experiencing moderate rain and inclement weather since Monday morning.
Bhola Weather Observatory Centre officer Mahbub Rahman said the local meteorological office recorded 72 mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 3 pm on Monday.
Besides, the launch and ferry services on Dhaka-Barishal route remained suspended.
The low-lying areas of Dhalchar area were flooded due to tidal surges caused by cyclone ‘Sitrang’.
