The foreign ministry has summoned Myanmar's ambassador in Dhaka to file a protest after mortar shells fired from across the border landed inside Bangladesh.
Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen told journalists that Ambassador U Aung Kyaw Moe came to the ministry responding to summon on Monday.
"We have lodged a strong protest through a verbal note so that such incidents do not happen again. We have also strongly condemned the incident," he said.
Earlier, two unexploded Myanmar mortar shells landed in an area near Tambru under Naikkhangchhari in Bandarban on Sunday afternoon.
Locals got panicked seeing the mortar shells which remained unexploded.
After that, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) stepped up its vigilance along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in the Bandarban area.
Foreign Secretary on Sunday told that they would lodge a strong protest against Maynmar about the incident.
