The Beijing High Court will hear the criminal appeal of Chinese journalist Yuyu Dong on Monday, March 31, at 9:30 a.m. local time. Dong, who has been in detention for three years, was convicted of espionage and sentenced to seven years in prison. He and his lawyers are seeking a full acquittal, according to a press release.
It remains uncertain when the court will deliver its ruling, but a decision could be announced immediately after the hearing.
With the support of the US National Press Club, Dong’s family, who are outside China, will be available to speak to the media following the proceedings.
