The Indian government has nothing more to say on Bangladesh’s plea to extradite Sheikh Hasina, other than that Delhi has received Dhaka’s formal application in this regard, India’s foreign ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told reporters Friday.

“A week ago, I confirmed that we received a communication from the Bangladeshi authorities regarding former PM Sheikh Hasina. I have nothing to add at this point,” Jaiswal said in a media briefing in New Delhi.

More than a week ago, the Indian official had confirmed receiving a note verbal from Dhaka seeking Hasina's extradition, but refused to offer further comment on the matter.

When questioned about a Bangladesh lower court's decision to deny bail to Hindu monk Chinmay Krishna Das, Jaiswal said, “We expect a fair trial for the individual.”

About Dhaka’s reported plans to purchase Turkish battle tanks, the Indian foreign ministry spokesperson said, “We closely follow all security issues and take appropriate action as necessary.”
