The government set the price of bottled soybean oil at Tk199 per litre, up Tk4 from Tk195.
Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir made the announcement at a press conference held at the ministry on Wednesday.
The new edible oil prices will come into effect from Wednesday. Besides bottled oil, loose soybean oil will also be sold at Tk 179 per litre, up Tk 4 from Tk 175.
He said prices at the source are rising worldwide due to the global situation. “We hope consumers will consider the global situation in viewing the matter,” he said.
The minister expressed hope that the supply situation in the market would also become more normal than before.
