PRAN Dairy Limited has signed an agreement with US-based international organisation ACDI/VOCA to enhance dairy development in southern Bangladesh. This partnership is part of the USAID-funded ‘Feed the Future Bangladesh Nutrition Program’ run by ACDI/VOCA.
The agreement was signed by Eleash Mridha,
managing director of PRAN Group, and Muhammad Nurul Amin Siddiquee, chief of party for the project, at PRAN Dairy’s head office in Badda, Dhaka, according to a press release. As per the agreement, PRAN Dairy will
undertake several initiatives aimed at increasing milk
production and procurement. These include providing farm management training to dairy farmers, supplying milk to the formal market, and promoting the safe production and consumption of milk in southern Bangladesh.
In addition, the project will feature an awareness
campaign, the provision of drought-tolerant grass seeds, loan assistance for cattle rearing, and a vaccination
programme. ACDI/VOCA will support PRAN Dairy through financing and expert guidance.
This marks the second collaboration between PRAN Dairy and ACDI/VOCA. The first phase, which concluded successfully in 2023, led to a 200% increase in milk
collection in the project area. Present at the signing
ceremony were Maksudur Rahman, chief operating officer of PRAN Dairy, Rakibul Islam Lanin, deputy general manager, Zihadul Kabir, deputy manager
(Operations), Nurer Rahman, private sector engagement specialist at ACDI/VOCA, and U Ba Hay, grants manager.
