Former Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Saiful Islam has been arrested from the capital.
Police arrested him on Wednesday morning, confirmed the CMP Deputy Police Commissioner (Crimes and Operation) Md Roish Uddin.
“The arrestee is being taken to Chattogram and will be produced before court in a murder case filed in connection with the student movement in July last year with the city’s Chandgaon Police Station,” he said.
During the anti-discrimination movement, 10 people including four students were killed and 900 others injured in attacks and firing by police and Awami League men across the port city.
Saiful joined CMP as commissioner on 4 July last year and was transferred to the Sarda Police Training Academy on 21 August after ouster of the AL government.
