As many as 50 eye patients underwent free surgery at the Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute (BEHRI) in the capital on Thursday.
BEHRI, in collaboration with Vision Care Foundation and Moin Uddin-Muktar Uddin Welfare Society, jointly organised the daylong camp at the hospital in Bashundhara Residential Area.
The patients included 25 women and 15 other men.
Prof Sahabuddin Ahmed, President of Bangladesh Ophthalmological Society (OSB), inaugurated the camp while BEHRI Director Prof Dr Saleh Ahmed was present on the occasion.
Under the supervision of BEHRI Director Prof Dr Saleh Ahmed, a group of ophthalmologists, including Dr Anthony Albert and Dr Akhtar Ferdousi Zaman, Dr Zerin Parvin and Dr Nusrat Lubna Islam, performed the surgery.
BEHRI Manager Mohammad Ahsan Habib said Bashundhara Eye Hospital provides treatment to patients from all walks of life at affordable costs.
“So far, 3,195 patients have undergone free eye surgery at BEHRI,” he said.
