Fog has unexpectedly thickened in the capital, coupled with chilly winds, amplifying the cold sensation. The northern regions of the country are also facing heavy fog. The fog began to increase in the capital from Wednesday night.
A visit to various areas of the capital reveals heavy traffic on the roads, as today marks the last day of the week. Due to the cold, those out for work are seen dressed in warm clothing to stay comfortable.
In its latest forecast, the Meteorological Department said, from 9 am Thursday, the weather across the country is expected to remain dry with partly cloudy skies for the next 24 hours.
However, moderate to dense fog may occur in some areas of the north-western regions during late night to morning, while light to moderate fog may develop in other parts of the country, which could persist until noon in some places.
According to the latest forecast, after 6 pm today (Thursday), the temperature in the southern regions of the country may slightly rise, leading to a slight increase in warmth.
However, temperatures in other areas are expected to remain unchanged.
Meanwhile, in its extended five-day forecast, the department has also predicted a slight decrease in both night and day temperatures in the early days of the period, which may lead to an increase in the feeling of cold once again.
