The first installment of humanitarian assistance consignments for the war-affected people of Gaza Strip was handed over to Palestinian Envoy in Dhaka on Monday afternoon.
The Foreign Ministry in collaboration with Disaster Management and Relief Ministry arranged the aid as per directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen handed over a representational box of relief materials to the Palestine Envoy on the occasion, reports BSS.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and other officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.
The humanitarian assistance included dry food items -- including dry cake, biscuits, emergency medical items, sanitary items for women and children.
The first installment of the consignment contained 587 kg relief materials which were dispatched to Cairo, Egypt via regular flight of Egypt Airways.
Bangladesh Embassy in Cairo is coordinating with the Egyptian and Palestinian authority under the current arrangement of the disbursement of assistance in place.
