South Korean police on Tuesday raided the headquarters of e-commerce giant Coupang in connection with a massive data leak believed to have compromised the personal information of more than 33 million customers, reports AFP.
In a statement, authorities said they were “conducting a search and seizure operation at Coupang's headquarters,” calling the raid a “necessary measure to accurately understand the incident” and secure evidence for the ongoing investigation.
Coupang has not yet issued a detailed public response, but officials say the probe is focused on determining the source of the breach, assessing the scale of the leaked data, and examining whether adequate security measures were in place.
