Meta has officially changed the web address for its social media platform Threads from Threads.net to Threads.com. While users are automatically redirected to the new domain, the update also introduces several improvements to the desktop version that enhance the overall user experience.
The platform’s layout has been redesigned to better align with its mobile counterpart. Personal feeds now appear at the top in chronological order, replacing the older single-column format. Users can also access liked and saved posts more easily through the main menu.
A customizable sidebar feature has been added to the right-hand side of the screen, allowing users to create and rearrange columns that display specific feeds, searches, or frequently visited profiles. This drag-and-drop interface enables a more personalized layout tailored to individual browsing habits.
In addition, Threads now allows users to copy posts directly as images, eliminating the need for screenshots when sharing content externally. A new floating post composer, accessible via a "+" button in the bottom-right corner, stays visible while scrolling, making it easier to write and publish posts without losing one’s place in the feed.
Threads continues to position itself as a major alternative to Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter), along with decentralized platforms like Mastodon and Bluesky. Unlike X, these services support limited interoperability, with some features allowing account or content linking across platforms.
