Iga Swiatek, Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic returned to action on Wednesday as the French Open second round gathered pace in hot conditions at Roland Garros, reports AFP.
Four-time champion Swiatek faced Czech player Sara Bejlek after an easy first-round win, while men’s second seed Zverev took on Tomas Machac in the night session.
Djokovic continued his bid for a record 25th Grand Slam title against French player Valentin Royer after battling past Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the opening round.
Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina also played on Wednesday against Ukraine’s Yuliia Starodubtseva.
Elsewhere, Elina Svitolina looked to continue her strong form, while former finalist Casper Ruud hoped to recover after a difficult five-set match in the Paris heat.
