The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in 11 districts across the country by this evening.
BMD said the storms may bring wind speeds of up to 60 km/h and has advised river ports in the affected areas to remain on alert.
The information was provided in a weather warning issued for the period from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday.
According to the warning, temporary rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty or squally winds, blowing from the south or southeast at speeds of 45–60 km/h, may affect the regions of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet.
River ports in these areas have been advised to display Local Cautionary Signal No. 1.
