The T20 World Cup will be held in February-March next year. This hybrid model tournament will be jointly organized by India and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh was scheduled to tour Sri Lanka in December to play a tri-nation series as part of the preparations for that tournament. However, Liton Das's team is no longer playing in that tournament before the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
The final of the tournament, which was scheduled to start on November 27 with Pakistan and Bangladesh, was scheduled to be held on December 23. Despite a positive response at the beginning, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has finally decided not to participate in the series. Bangladesh is not going to play the tri-nation series in Sri Lanka to give the cricketers some rest as they are in a series of games.
Regarding the series, BCB Cricket Operations Committee chairman Nazmul Abedin Fahim said, "No, we are not going to play a tri-nation series in Sri Lanka. That is not happening."
Since the Tigers will not participate in the tri-nation series, their preparations will have to be completed through BPL.
The West Indies series ended a few days ago. Bangladesh will play a series against Ireland from November 11. There will be a T20 series along with the Test series. After Ireland series, the players will start playing in the BPL from December 19. Bangladeshi cricketers will prepare for the World Cup through this franchise tournament.
