Bangladesh posted a total of 151 runs in their first innings against West Indies in the third and final T20I of the three-match series at the Bir Shreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Friday.
After winning the toss, skipper Litton Das elected to bat first, handing a fresh look to the playing XI with four changes — Parvez Hossain Emon, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shak Mahedi Hasan, and Shoriful Islam coming in for Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
Bangladesh’s innings revolved around the brilliance of Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who played a superb knock of 89 off 62 balls, striking nine fours and four sixes. Opening the innings alongside Emon, Tanzid showed maturity and controlled aggression even as wickets fell around him.
After early dismissals of Emon (9 off 10) and Litton (6 off 9), Tanzid steadied the innings with Saif Hassan (23 off 22), putting together a crucial 63-run stand that helped Bangladesh recover during the middle overs.
However, West Indies struck back strongly in the latter stages. Romario Shepherd was the star with the ball, claiming 3 for 36, including a hat-trick that dismantled Bangladesh’s lower order.
He dismissed Nurul Hasan Sohan in the last delivery of the 17th over, followed by the wickets of Tanzid and Shoriful in the first two balls of the 20th over.
Jason Holder (2-32) and Khary Pierre (2-23) provided key breakthroughs as well, while Akeal Hosein and Roston Chase chipped in with a wicket apiece as the visitors bowled out Bangladesh in the final over.
The visitors have already sealed the series 2-0 with wins by 16 and 14 runs in the earlier matches at the same venue. Bangladesh, however, will be hoping to finish the series on a high after having won the preceding ODI series 2-1 in Mirpur.
