Unrelenting rain marred the 2nd T20I of the three-match series between hosts New Zealand and Bangladesh on Friday in Mount Maunganui, reports UNB.
Bangladesh had entered the match hoping to secure the series after a victory in the first match in Napier.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Bangladesh showcased an aggressive display as they restricted the hosts to 72 runs in 11 overs, losing two wickets before rain interrupted play.
Regrettably, the match never resumed. At 9:55 pm (local time), the umpires declared the match abandoned.
The third and final match of the T20I series is scheduled for December 31.
Should the visitors triumph once again, it would mark Bangladesh’s maiden T20I series win over New Zealand on Kiwi soil.
