Lionel Messi, along with Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are in the list of FIFA best player of the year for 2023.
The full list of best players for year 2023 has been published in the FIFA website on Thursday. Whoever in the list gets the highest votes and points, will become best player of the year.
The award ceremony of 'FIFA The Best' is going to be held on January 15, 2024 in London. FIFA has selected the best players in boys football between the timeline of 19 December 2022 and 20 August 2023.
A panel of FIFA experts initially selected 12 players from among the best footballers of the year. From that list, an international jury board (consisting of national team coaches and captains, football journalists and fans voting on FIFA's official website) selects the top three.
It should be noted that Messi was in the short list of the best footballer of the year last time as well. Not only that, he also won the award.
