Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal decided to bat first after winning the toss in the first of three-match one-day International series against England at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, reports BSS.
Tamim himself returned to the side, having missed the last ODI series against India, which Bangladesh won 2-1. He in fact is playing his first International match since August, 2022.
In a bid to bolster their spin attack, Bangladesh also included left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, who replaced Nasum Ahmed in the side.
Bangladesh indeed won seven successive ODI series at home, since their defeat to England by 2-1 in 2016.
England which lost eight matches in last 10, including a 2-1 defeat to South Africa recently, handed ODI debut to Will Jacks.
Despite their poor form, England hoped to bounce back in the series. They admitted that beating Bangladesh at home will be an uphill task but at the same time, their captain Jos Buttler said they would love to test themselves in tough condition ahead of ODI World Cup later this year.
