After a long wait, the legendary character Bonolota Sen, created by the beloved poet of Bengal, Jibanananda Das, is set to grace the silver screen. Directed by Masud Hasan Ujjal, “Bonolota Sen” will release in cinemas this Eid-ul-Adha.
The character posters of the film “Bonolata Sen” have been unveiled, just two days after the film’s official announcement.
The makers also announced that the teaser of the film, the trailer, songs and other promotional content will be revealed in phases.
“I have been waiting a long time to make this film. It has taken me ten years of work,” Ujjal shared. “I wrote the screenplay in 2013 and, over the years, prepared 14 drafts while conducting extensive research on Jibanananda Das. The film was finally produced in 2024 and is now ready for release.”

The poem was first published in December 1935 in Kobita Potrika, a literary magazine edited by Buddhadeva Bose. Later, the poem was included in a poetry collection published in 1942.

The film blends historical and fictional characters through both realistic and metaphorical storytelling. The makers believe this unique presentation will offer audiences a different cinematic experience.

Actors including Masuma Rahman Nabila, Khairul Basar, Sohel Mondal, Naziba Bashar and Priyanti Urbi have played various roles in the film.
