A new web film titled “Sarar Shongser”, based on the popular novel “Artonad” by late novelist Kazi Anwar Hossain, is set to release on OTT platform iScreen during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
Directed by Aka Reza Ghalib, the film stars acclaimed actress and dancer Sadia Islam Mou in the lead role. The makers recently unveiled the film’s first-look poster and officially announced its release.
While the original novel “Artonad” was set in the 1970s, the story of “Sarar Shongsar” has been adapted to a contemporary backdrop. The screenplay has been written by Masuma Maimur, daughter-in-law of Kazi Anwar Hossain.
The story follows Sara, played by Mou, who accidentally kills her daughter’s secret lover one night. In an attempt to protect her daughter’s honour, she tries to conceal the incident. However, even after the body is removed, complications arise as police begin investigating the disappearance. The plot unfolds with suspense, fear, guilt and family tension.
Speaking about her role, Mou said, “After a long time, I worked on a character where emotions, fear and mental tension are all present together. The character was very challenging, and I believe the audience will see something new.”
Director Ghalib said Kazi Anwar Hossain’s literary works contain many remarkable stories beyond the famous Masud Rana series, adding that Sarar Paribar combines suspense with complex family relationships.
The web film also features Gazi Rakayet, Rashed Mamun Apu, Nafis Ahmed, Nafisa Maliat Promy and Ehtesham Ahmed Tinku.
