Content creator and actress Kaarina Kaisar has passed away while undergoing treatment in the Indian state of Chennai following severe liver-related complications, her family confirmed on Friday.
Her father, former Bangladesh national footballer Mohammad Kaisar Hamid, said Kaarina’s health condition deteriorated suddenly while doctors were administering antibiotics for a lung infection.
“Her blood pressure dropped sharply during the treatment. The doctors tried their utmost, but ultimately they could not save her,” he told reporters.
Kaarina had been in critical condition for several days due to liver complications. She was initially placed on life support at a private hospital in Dhaka before being airlifted to Chennai on Monday night for advanced treatment.
She had been receiving treatment at the Christian Medical College (CMC) Hospital in Vellore, where doctors first focused on treating her lungs while also preparing for a liver transplant.
According to family sources, Kaarina initially developed a fever before doctors detected an infection. Complications caused by Hepatitis A and E later led to liver failure.
As her condition worsened, she was admitted to the intensive care unit and later placed on life support.
Widely known as a content creator, Kaarina had recently been active in acting and scriptwriting. Her lively social media presence and relatable content earned her popularity among young audiences, while she gradually established herself in OTT platforms and television dramas.
Her notable works include Internship and 36-24-36.
Following news of her death, fellow artistes, filmmakers and fans expressed grief and condolences on social media.
