Actors Nazifa Tushi and Shamol Mawla are set to share the big screen for the first time in the upcoming film “Suraiya.”
Production on the movie has already begun, with Robiul Alam Robi serving as both director and producer.
Speaking to the media, Robi confirmed the start of shooting but declined to reveal further details, adding that more information would be shared by the production team in due course.
Sources close to the project have confirmed that this marks the first on-screen pairing of Tushi and Mawla.
“Suraiya” is based on the novel of the same name by Shibabrata Barman. The project has already gained international attention, having been selected for the Tasveer Film Festival and Market in Seattle. Earlier, it was also chosen for the Busan Film Market, where it received mentorship and screenplay development support from PAS, France.
The film has further been backed by a government grant of Tk 7.5 million for the 2023–24 fiscal year from the Government of Bangladesh. Producer Fazle Hasan is also associated with the project.
