The Bangladeshi film “Delupi” is set to be screened in the Austrian capital, Vienna. The movie has been officially selected for the “Red Lotus Asian Film Festival Vienna 2026”, scheduled to take place from 23 to 26 April.
As part of the festival, “Delupi” will be shown at the traditional Stadtkino Theater in Vienna on April 25 at 1:30 pm (local time).
Earlier this year, the film was screened at the 55th International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2026 in the Netherlands, where it received acclaim from both audiences and critics. Following its success in Rotterdam, this marks Delupi’s second participation in a major European film festival.
Director Mohammad Touqir Islam said, “After receiving an incredibly positive response in the Netherlands, it is going to Austria, which is very hopeful and happy news for our team. This is truly a great achievement for Bengali and Bangladeshi cinema.”
The name “Delupi” comes from Delupi Union in Paikgachha Upazila of Khulna. Inspired by the lives, realities, and relationships of the people from that region, the story was crafted as a fictional yet realistic narrative.
While grounded in Delupi, the film’s themes are relatable to people from all walks of life across Bangladesh.
The film features local actors and was also shot on location in Delupi Union.
