The film "The Difficult Bride", directed by “Meherjaan” filmmaker Rubaiyat Hossain, has received major international funding.
National Film Award–winning actresses Azmeri Haque Badhan,Sunerah Binte Kamal and Reekita Nondine Shimu lead the cast.
A significant announcement came from this year’s Berlin International Film Festival. The Dhaka-based film has secured a grant worth more than Tk 10 million.
Before production began, The Difficult Bride received support from the World Cinema Fund in 2022. Following the completion of shooting, the film has now been awarded an even larger grant for post-production.
The funding comes from Fondazione Prada, the cultural institution of the Italian fashion house Prada.
According to the foundation’s recently announced list, film projects from 14 countries including Bangladesh have been selected for grants this year. Rubaiyat Hossain’s “The Difficult Bride” will receive €80,000 (approximately Tk 1,16,00,000).
The announcement of the selected projects was made during a special event on February 13 at the festival, which began on February 12.
