The 13th National Parliamentary Elections were observed across the country on Thursday. Actors, filmmakers, and musicians exercised their right to vote by attending polling stations in different parts of the country, including the capital. Many shared pictures and expressed their feelings about the voting experience on social media.
Three veteran film actresses Suchanda, Babita, and Champa cast their votes at the Gulshan Model High School polling station. They arrived together there. Their presence added to the atmosphere at the polling station. In a brief conversation with the media after voting, they expressed optimism about the future of the country.
“Nagar Baul” James also cast his vote in the election. He voted at 3:30pm at Baridhara Scholar School and College in the Baridhara DOHS area of the capital, which falls under the Dhaka-17 constituency.
Director Ashfaque Nipun travelled to Chattogram to vote. In a video message after casting his vote on Thursday morning, he urged conscious citizens to exercise their voting rights. Nipun said, “The first vote of the youth, let it be in favor of the new Bangladesh.” In the caption of the video, he mentioned that he reached the polling center at 7:30am and, after waiting in line, cast his vote at 8:10am.
Popular small-screen actor Ziaul Faruk Apurba exercised his right to vote as well. A voter of the Dhaka-18 constituency, he cast his ballot at the RAJUK Uttara Model College center in the capital. Later, he posted a picture on Facebook with the caption: “We are the architects of the future of our country, and it starts with a vote. I cast my vote today for a better future.”
Model and actor Adil Hossain Noble came to vote at the Gulshan Model School and College center with his 91-year-old father. He was accompanied by his wife and mother.
Actress Safa Kabir shared a photo showing her inked thumb, captioning it: “Vote done. As a conscious citizen, I cast my vote.”
Rukaiya Jahan Chamak posted multiple pictures, writing: “I cast my vote. It took just five minutes. It’s nice to see everyone voting with their families at the polling station. Happy voting, Bangladesh.”
Film actor Nirab Hossain, a voter of the Dhaka-15 constituency, cast his vote at the St. Lawrence School center in the capital at around 1:00pm. After voting, he said he was able to cast his ballot in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.
Popular actress and presenter Masuma Rahman Nabila cast her vote with her husband at a polling station in the capital in the morning. She later shared her experience with her fans and followers on social media.
First Vote for Them
Actress Toma Mirza cast her first vote at the Badda Mahanagar College center in the Dhaka-11 constituency. After voting, she wrote: “Voting is your and my civil right. We voted; you should also cast your vote spontaneously.”
Samira Khan Mahi cast her first vote at the Ali Hossain Girls’ High School center in Jashore. Before heading to the polling station, she said in a Facebook video message: “I am going to vote for the first time in my life. I am very excited.”
Keya Payel also voted and wrote: “I cast my vote.”
Singer Parasha Mahjabin cast her vote at the Bogra Zilla School center. She said she reached Bogra after enduring a long traffic jam of about 16 hours from Dhaka in order to vote.
However, a few celebrities, including Shakib Khan, Arifin Shuvoo, and Tasnia Farin, could not vote as they are currently abroad for shooting.
