Hudson Meek, the 16-year-old actor best known for his role in Baby Driver, tragically passed away last week after falling from a moving vehicle in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, as reported by CNN affiliate WVTM.
CNN on Thursday (Washington local time) reported that on December 19, Meek suffered blunt force trauma from the fall and was rushed to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries on December 21, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
A message shared on Meek’s Instagram following his death read, “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
Meek gained recognition for playing a younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character, Baby, in the 2017 film Baby Driver. He also voiced the lead in Badanamu Stories, a children's show for preschoolers, and appeared in TV shows such as NBC’s Found and The CW’s Legacies. His recent work included a role in the thriller The School Duel.
Known for being “reflective and thoughtful,” Meek was an avid traveler and outdoor enthusiast. His obituary highlights his love for snow-skiing, where he navigated challenging trails with ease, and his enjoyment of lake activities, including tubing and wakeboarding.
The Vestavia Hills Police Department is investigating the circumstances of his death, with further details pending. CNN has reached out to local authorities for more information.
