A total of 41,232 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia on 97 flights following the completion of Hajj, according to the latest bulletin from the IT Help Desk of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Of the returning pilgrims, 3,328 travelled under the government management scheme, while 37,904 were under private management.
Among the airlines operating return flights, Biman Bangladesh Airlines carried 15,722 pilgrims, Saudi Airlines transported 16,109, and Flynas brought back 7,700 pilgrims.
So far, 97 return flights have been operated, including 38 by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 40 by Saudi Airlines and 19 by Flynas.
The bulletin also reported that 48 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia during this year's Hajj season. Of them, 32 were men and 16 were women. Among the deceased, 35 died in Makkah, 12 in Madinah and one in Jeddah.
A total of 401 pilgrims have received treatment at hospitals in Saudi Arabia, while 13 remain admitted for medical care.
This year, Bangladesh was allocated a Hajj quota of 78,500 pilgrims, including 4,565 under government management and 73,935 under private management.
The first Hajj flight departed for Saudi Arabia on April 18, while the final outbound flight left on May 21. Return flights began on May 30 and are scheduled to continue until June 30.
