The National Moon Sighting Committee will meet on Sunday to determine the date of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival for Muslims.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 pm at the conference room of the Bangladesh Islamic Foundation (BIF) in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, reports BSS.
According to an official statement, Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain will preside over the meeting, which will review reports on the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
People are requested to report any moon sightings by calling 02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916, or 02-41050917, or by faxing 02-223383397 or 02-9555951.
The BIF also urged citizens to inform the respective deputy commissioner or upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) using the provided phone and fax numbers if they spot the moon anywhere in Bangladesh.
