The likelihood of rainfall on Eid-ul-Fitr in Bangladesh is minimal, with only a slight chance of light drizzles in isolated parts of the Chattogram division, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik, a meteorologist at BMD, explained that the chance of rain is very low across the country, with only light rain expected in some areas of Chattogram, reports UNB.
This year, Ramadan started on March 2 in Bangladesh. If the Shawwal moon is sighted on Sunday, Eid will be on Monday, marking the end of 29 days of fasting. If the moon isn't seen, fasting will extend to 30 days, and Eid will be on Tuesday.
Dr. Mallik further emphasized that although rain is unlikely, localized thunderclouds could form unpredictably, leading to brief showers in certain areas. However, such events are difficult to predict.
He advised the public to stay updated on daily weather forecasts from BMD, especially since the exact date of Eid depends on moon sighting.
As of now, the chances of rain on Eid day are about 10 to 15%, with an 80% chance of dry weather.
The official forecast predicts partly cloudy skies and dry conditions across Bangladesh, with slight drops in daytime temperatures and minor increases in night temperatures. The weather for the next few days is expected to remain mostly dry, ensuring a comfortable Eid celebration for Bangladeshis.
