A mild heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi and Sirajganj currently, and it is likely to abate, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (March 20).
The met office, however, forecasted that rains or thunder showers with lightning flashes accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds are likely to occur at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and hails at isolated places for the next 24 hours, beginning from 9 am today, reports BSS.
BMD meteorologist Dr Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik predicted that weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
He forecasted that the day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may rise slightly over the country during this period.
The highest temperature 36.3°C was recorded at Baghabari in Rajshahi on Wednesday (March 19) and today's minimum temperature 14.2°C has been recorded at Rajarhat in Rangpur.
The sun will set at 6:10 pm today and rise at 6:02 am tomorrow in the capital.
