National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan said some sectors including customs are creating unreasonable tax discrimination now and this discrimination will be eliminated if everyone can be brought under tax.
He said this at a pre-budget discussion meeting at the NBR building on Thursday morning.
The NBR Chairman said, “There should be no special tax rate for the garments sector and a consensus among the traders in this sector on the issue.”
At this time, he also talked about the implementation of a uniform tax rate.
Abdur Rahman Khan said, “There will be guidelines in the next budget to address the areas where additional taxes are being levied due to legal complications. We also have to come out of the culture of giving tax concessions in various sectors.”
The Bangladesh Chairman of Industries (BCI) demanded a 2.5 percent reduction in the corporate tax rate. Along with this, a demand was made not to impose taxes on various funds including labor welfare.
