Election Commissioner (EC) Anwarul Islam Sarkar on Thursday said if the Election Commission decides, the registration of local observer organizations will be cancelled.
“If the commission thinks that all of them will be cancelled, then they will be cancelled,” he said.
EC Anwarul Islam said this in the conference room of the Election Commission building on Thursday.
When asked about the current status of the public notice on registration, he said, “A writ has been filed. The rule order has not yet come from the court. Actually, I can say after seeing it, but I cannot say specifically without seeing the order. If the registered parties want, they will give it if the conditions are met. If they don't want, then it’s not necessary.”
“I may get a copy of the verdict next week, and then I can say,” he said.
This Election Commissioner said, “We have prepared a draft for the observers. Some observers will be cancelled. If the commission thinks that all of them will be cancelled, then they will be cancelled. We are moving according to the existing policies and the proposal of the Reform Commission.”
He said we have also talked about the polling station policy. I want to prepare a draft. However, there is no update on the demarcation yet.
The EC said, “Many people are controversial about the election. Those involved in the election were undoubtedly controversial. We are making all possible preparations so that there is no controversy or ambiguity in the future. InshaAllah, there will be no controversy.”
