Bangladesh’s star all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, has been cleared to resume bowling across all formats of cricket, after undergoing a detailed assessment of his bowling action in England.
Confirming the news to Daily Daily Sun, Shakib stated, “The news is right.”
His bowling action first was scrutinised during a County Championship match for Surrey against Somerset in September 2024. Following an independent evaluation that deemed his action illegal, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) suspended him.
After the suspension, Shakib underwent two separate reassessments—first in England and then in Chennai, India—failing both attempts.
He has been absent from international cricket since Bangladesh’s two-match Test series in India between September and October 2024. Following that tour, he was unable to return home due to student protests.
At the time, Shakib was serving as a Member of Parliament in the Awami League government, which was ousted on August 5 amid a student-led revolution in Bangladesh.
His most recent appearance for Bangladesh was in the two Tests against India, while his last ODI was during the 2023 World Cup.
