Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated on Monday that the government has formed a seven-member commission to re-investigate the BDR carnage committed in February 2009.
The home adviser informed reporters on Monday, after attending a program at Pilkhana BGB Headquarters, that former BGB Director General Maj Gen ALM Fazlur Rahman will head the commission.
Two members of the commission will come from armed forces, one from civil service, one teacher from Dhaka University and one from Jagannath University and one from police, Jahangir added.
Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has already approved the commission on Sunday, the home adviser said.
On December 17, the adviser had said a committee would be formed within five working days to re-investigate the killings during the massacre at the BDR, now Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
A total of 74 people, including 57 army officers, were killed during the BDR carnage on February 25-26 in 2009.
