Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is set to address the opening session of the World Leaders Climate Action Summit at the Conference of the Parties-29 (COP29) today.
“The Chief Adviser will deliver his speech at the Opening Session of the World Leaders Climate Action Summit at COP29 expectedly between 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm (Bangladesh time) today,” the chief adviser’s press wing stated.
The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) officially began in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, yesterday. Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is currently on a four-day visit to the city to participate in the climate summit.
On the opening day of COP29, Prof. Yunus had a busy schedule, meeting with at least 20 prominent world leaders and heads of international agencies. According to reports, the Bangladesh interim government chief and 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate engaged in discussions with top officials from various countries and global organizations.
At the COP29 summit in Baku, Professor Muhammad Yunus had a series of important meetings with global leaders. He met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish First Lady during the world leaders' summit at the conference venue.
In addition, Prof. Yunus had a meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the event.
The Chief Adviser also greeted several other leaders, including Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, and Nepal's President Ramchandra Paudel.
In addition to his earlier meetings, Professor Muhammad Yunus also engaged with several other prominent global figures at the COP29 summit. Among those he met were the Prime Minister of Belgium, the President of Ghana, the Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the President of Rwanda, the Prime Minister of Albania, the President of Montenegro, and the Prime Minister of Barbados.
Prof. Yunus also held discussions with the Vice Presidents of Brazil and Iran, as well as the President of FIFA and the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Additionally, Ahmed Eltayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al Sharif, paid a visit to Professor Muhammad Yunus at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Baku yesterday morning.
