Delivering question to the interim government, BNP senior joint secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said as the present constitution is pro-Bakshal and authoritative, so why are you delaying to take various steps for reform on pretext of this constitution.
He said this in the speech of chief guest while inaugurating the training workshop of Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal in the Diploma Engineers Institution of the capital on Saturday noon.
Addressing the interim government, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “You are a government created through revolution. There is no need for this government to have everything according to the constitution. As the government that is formed through the revolution, it has to do everything anew, keep everything anew. You have a lot of work to do in order to develop the institutions of democracy, what is not statutory in the current constitution. Its Sheikh Hasina's constitution. Sheikh Hasina has created this constitution by manipulating it in many ways. This constitution is an authoritarian constitution; this constitution is an authoritarian constitution! So why are you delaying taking various initiatives and reforms with the excuse of this constitution?”
The BNP leader said, “You yourselves have not come to power under the constitution, but you have public support. All you have to do is to be prompt in actions. If the intensity of your work slows down, then in terms of accountability to the people they will think that you are not doing the right thing.”
