The daily Amar Desh editor Mahmudur Rahman said that Mohammed Shahabuddin Chuppu has no legitimacy to be in the President's chair.
He made the remarks today (November 9) while speaking at a roundtable discussion arranged by Nagarik Forum at the National Press Club.
Pointing the finger at President Shahabuddin Chuppu, he said, “The Constitution has been spoiled due to the appointment of Chuppu by fascist Sheikh Hasina. A president said fascist Sheikh Hasina fled to India after giving a resignation letter. But, the president later said, he didn’t have the resignation letter. Chuppu has violated the Constitution and oath by telling such a big lie. So, he has no more legitimacy to hold the chair of president.”
Mahmudur Rahman said, “The country’s Constitution is a pro-family document. This Constitution was made only for a family. It states that this Constitution is unchangeable. This Constitution said that the prime minister would remain in power for life. It means Sheikh Hasina has implemented undeclared BaKSAL as per the Constitution like the way her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman implemented BaKSAl in 1972.
Former justice AFM Abdur Rahman presided over the discussion while Supreme Court lawyer and central BNP leader Abed Reza, and BNP chairperson’s special assistant advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, among others, spoke at the event.
