Ahsan H. Mansur, the Governor of Bangladesh Bank, has assumed the role of Chairperson of the SAARC Finance Network. He was appointed to this position during the 46th SAARC Finance Governors’ Group Meeting held in Washington, D.C. on October 24, for a term of one year.
He takes over as Chair Country of the SAARC Finance Network from the previous chair, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
This information was conveyed in a press release issued by Saeda Khanam, Assistant Spokesperson and Director of the Department of Communications and Publications at Bangladesh Bank, on Thursday.
The press release stated that Bangladesh had agreed to assume the chairmanship of the SAARC Finance Network at the request of the central bank governors of SAARC member countries during the 45th SAARC Finance Governors' Group Meeting held in Sri Lanka last June.
In accordance with the decisions made at the 10th SAARC Summit with the participation of heads of state and government, the SAARC Finance Network was established in 1998, comprising the governors of central banks and finance secretaries from the eight member countries.
The primary objective of this network is to facilitate the exchange of experiences and insights among SAARC member countries regarding policies in various macroeconomic sectors.
