The adviser for labour and employment as well as youth and sports Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has condemned the spread of propaganda regarding the formation of political parties by students involved in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, reports Dhaka Tribune.
He said this during a courtesy meeting with Michael Miller, the European Union ambassador to Bangladesh, on Sunday.
The meeting covered a range of topics, including child labour, labour laws, the creation of a worker-friendly environment in the garment sector, ensuring worker safety, GSP and GSP+ benefits, transitioning from LDC status, and the economic and political relations between the European Union and Bangladesh, along with social protection initiatives.
In response to the ambassador’s inquiry about the alleged formation of political parties by these students, Asif said it is not the time for party formation but rather for collective action and unity among all.
When asked about the activities of reform commissions aimed at nation-building, he said 10 reform commissions have been established in response to public expectations. "These commissions have begun their work and are expected to provide specific recommendations for nation-building soon."
He added that the country will move towards holding fair elections following these reforms.
