Amid the ongoing protest for reevaluation of HSC results by a group of students. Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, has announced his resignation.
The announcement was issued on Sunday night after hours of student demonstrations.
Sources from the Dhaka Education Board confirmed that Professor Sarkar is expected to officially submit his resignation letter to the Ministry of Education on Monday. The board has stated that the students' demands will be forwarded to the ministry for review. Any further action will be taken based on the ministry’s directives.
The protests began Sunday afternoon, with students calling for the HSC results to be determined by “indiscriminate” mapping across all subjects, similar to the process used for SSC exams. They demanded fairness and consistency in the grading process.
The Ministry of Education is now expected to assess the students’ demands and provide guidance on how the board should proceed.
