A Tati League leader was arrested by police for his involvement in killing Nadimul after firing gunshots at the student-people movement, reports BSS.
The arrestee was identified as Md Abu Sayeed, president of Sutrapur Thana Tati League.
Police arrested him from Sutrapur Thana area around 10.15 pm on Thursday, a police press release said.
The detectives have found involvement of Sayeed in the killing of student Nadimul Hasan Elem with the support of information technology, it said.
A murder case was filed with Sutrapur Police Station on September 1.
In the case statement, it was said that protesters brought out processions supporting the anti-discrimination student movement in front of Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College under Sutrapur Thana in the capital city on July 19 last.
All of a sudden, leaders and activists of the Awami League attacked the processions and fired indiscriminate gunshots at the protesters.
Nadimul Hasan Elem, a Shaikh Burhanuddin Post Graduate College student, who took part in the procession suffered critical bullet injuries in the attack.
He was taken to Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital almost immediately where the on-duty physicians announced him dead.
