Renowned Islamic legal scholar and Hadith expert Muhammad Abdul Malek has been appointed as the new Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
On Thursday, October 17, the government gave its approval for his appointment, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The press release states that Mufti Abdul Malek is a distinguished scholar with advanced degrees in Islamic studies, Hadith, and Fiqh from prestigious institutions both domestically and internationally. His teacher was the world-renowned Mufti Justice Muhammad Taqi Usmani. Additionally, he conducted two years of advanced research on Hadith and Islamic law under one of the most prominent Islamic scholars in the Arab world, Sheikh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah, a professor at the Faculty of Usul el-Deen at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Abdul Malek has traveled to Mecca, Medina, Pakistan, India, and Turkey, and has presented papers at various national and international seminars. He has already authored 16 books in Bengali, Arabic, English, and Urdu. Additionally, under his supervision, a regular research journal called Al-Kawsar is published monthly.
