During the U.S. State Department briefing on Tuesday (Washington time), spokesperson Matthew Miller emphasized the United States' continued diplomatic engagement with Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan despite concerns about high-level visits to the region.
Miller responded to questions regarding Assistant Secretary Donald Lu's recent trips to India and Nepal, which excluded Bangladesh and Pakistan. Addressing speculation of weakened ties, Miller stated, "Of course, we have diplomatic relations with Bangladesh and Pakistan," adding that Secretary Blinken had recently engaged with leaders from both nations.
In response to concerns about the violent attack on a Bangladeshi diplomatic mission in India and escalating rhetoric, Miller called for peaceful resolution among all parties.
The briefing reinforced U.S. priorities for rule of law, regional stability, and constructive dialogue in Bangladesh and South Asia, while highlighting the evolving diplomatic dynamics in the region.
