Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met on Thursday (Washington time) with U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken in Malta, on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial. The two leaders discussed several pressing regional issues, with a particular focus on the situation in Gaza and the ongoing hostilities in Lebanon, according to a state dept. statement.
US Secretary Blinken underscored the urgency of securing the release of all hostages and ending the war in Gaza. He stressed the importance of establishing a post-conflict pathway that ensures lasting peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians. Blinken also reiterated the United States’ call for Israel to do more to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza.
In addition to the Gaza situation, the two leaders discussed the cessation of hostilities in Lebanon. Secretary Blinken emphasized the need for full implementation of the agreement to maintain stability in the region.
The meeting reaffirmed the United States’ strong commitment to Israel’s security and its ongoing efforts to address regional crises.
