The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has raised concerns about worsening conditions in Gaza as bitterly cold weather compounds the struggles of forcibly displaced families. Many are sheltering in makeshift accommodations without access to warm clothing or blankets, leaving them “struggling to survive.”
Amid escalating violence, reports indicate that dozens of Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes across Gaza. Al Jazeera’s correspondent described harrowing scenes at Kamal Adwan Hospital, where patients and staff were “soaked in blood” following multiple Israeli drone attacks on the medical facility.
In southern Lebanon, an Israeli attack near the town of Bint Jbeil injured five people, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. Despite these incidents, a ceasefire with Hezbollah remains in effect, though Israeli forces have reportedly violated the truce multiple times.
Since the conflict began on October 7, 2023, Israeli actions in Gaza have claimed the lives of at least 44,580 Palestinians and wounded 105,739 others. Meanwhile, Hamas-led attacks in Israel on the same day killed 1,139 people and resulted in over 200 hostages being taken.
Lebanon has also borne significant casualties, with at least 4,047 people killed and 16,638 wounded in Israeli attacks since the onset of the war on Gaza.
