Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury stated that Bangladesh’s budget is being prepared with every citizen in mind.
He made the remarks on Wednesday at the Secretariat after a meeting with the Prime Minister.
Earlier, on Tuesday, speaking as the chief guest at a seminar organized by the Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF) on “Budget 2026-27: Expectations and Reality” in Dhaka, the Finance Minister said, “The lower-income population has been the most deprived in previous budgets. Therefore, in this budget, we have prioritized the poor, low-income groups, and homemakers first.”
He also mentioned, “Initiatives under the “Creative Economy” program have been launched to integrate blacksmiths, potters, weavers, small artisans, theater performers, and cultural workers into economic activities. The program will provide support in skill development, loans, design assistance, branding, and marketing.”
The Finance Minister emphasized, “GDP does not come only from industries and factories. Culture, sports, handicrafts, and the creative sector can also make significant contributions to the economy.”
