Jewellers have lowered the price of gold by Tk1,248 to Tk1,39,338 per bhori (11.664 grams) amid a tariff drop on pure gold.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Monday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk11,946 per gram, while it is Tk11,403 for 21-carat gold, read a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the committee.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk9,774 a gram, while that of traditional gold is at Tk8,025 a gram.
The new tariffs will come into effect on Tuesday, the release added.
Prices of silver, however, remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional silver Tk136 a gram.
