Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, Jagannath University (JnU) wing, has raised seven-point demands, including quality medical services for female students on campus, sanitization, and the appointment of a female assistant director for student welfare.
They submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor on Monday afternoon and presented these demands. Later, the student organization shared this information to journalists at a press conference.
The demands of the Chhatra Shibir are— a female teacher should be appointed as an assistant director in the student welfare department, separate and suitable prayer places should be allocated for female students in the residential halls (measures should also be taken for other religions depending on the demands), quality water filters should be installed in the prayer places designated for female students in the central mosque, adequate and quality washrooms should be arranged for female students on the campus (in places that have round-the-clock access outside the department), separate seating arrangements should be made for female students who want to eat while wearing full-face veils in the canteen, improved sanitization arrangements should be ensured for female students in the residential halls, and a doctor should be appointed to ensure round-the-clock medical services in the medical center of the student hall.
At the press conference, JnU Shibir secretary Riazul Islam said, “We have conveyed our demands to the Vice-Chancellor. He said that he will take appropriate steps in this regard. We will always be involved in any positive work of the students, InshaAllah.”
